Branson 2400H Tractor Review

Doug with his tractor

Around the farm, a tractor is a dependable piece of equipment to make light work of heavy lifting. As the co-owner and co-founder of The Cheshire Horse, I realize how important it is to have a reliable tractor if you care for horses or livestock, or if you tend to a large homestead or garden.

Whether I am purchasing a tractor for myself or helping a customer make this investment, I am looking for the same criteria: a durable, hardworking machine with an affordable price point. After much research, since this was my first tractor, I chose to go with the Branson Tractor 2400H with Loader & 60″ Mower. It is low profile, standing only 88” tall at the roll bar, and allows me to easily maneuver in tight spaces.

The 24 horsepower motor helps me quickly and efficiently perform my larger chores around the farm, including mowing fields and pushing back the manure pile. In the winter months, I also use it to move snow piles after snow plowing. It easily handles heavy loads, with a lift capacity of over 1,300 pounds! The three-point hitch has a lift capacity of 1,500 pounds.

Even on the coldest of days, it starts right up, due to the glow plug and engine block heater. I am able to preheat the engine for a few minutes, and the engine turns on as soon as I turn the key. Anyone who has ever tried to start a tractor in freezing temperatures knows that is a huge plus. If you frequently work outside in the winter weather, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that many models in the Branson Tractor line-up are even available with a heated cab!

The four-way implement control allows me to accurately maneuver the bucket or any other attachment.. Even though my tractor is one of their compact tractor line, Branson produces a full line of attachments for this tractor (available separately), including a 60-inch mid-mount mower, a 56-inch front mount snowblower, backhoes, and canopies. Branson makes it a very versatile piece of equipment with so many options.

Even with all of these extra features, it is more affordable than many other high-end tractor lines. It is a very good value for the money.’ It is built durably and also very rugged; in fact, it weighs several hundred pounds more than many other brands corresponding tractor models. This is a testament to the quality of workmanship and materials that have gone into producing this tractor.

Overall, my tractor has the capacity to get the job done and perform the various tasks that I ask of it. For someone new to tractors, I found it simple to operate and amazed at how easy it was to get my big jobs done. Just like the other tractors in the Branson line, it features a two-year bumper-to-bumper warranty and a six-year powertrain warranty. I am confident that my Branson 2400H Tractor will be a mainstay on my farm for many years to come.

    • Doug’s tractor has been working great. He loves it and uses it every month to move the manure pile and do field work. He has approximately 30 hours in. His only complaint is he wishes it had a coffee cup holder!

  1. I have two: T1 with rear 3 spool hydraulics. Top and tilt. Solenoid switch.
T2 has a cab, forward hydraulic, skid steer quick connect, and snowblower.
Prefer over an LS MT-125 and a JD 3039R. Different animal but I prefer the 2400H smaller size.

  2. I just got one last month and absolutely LOVE IT! I got it from Daves Tractor in Red Bluff, California. It was sold as a package deal. It sold with the front-end loader, box scraper and a rear mount mower deck. 19.5 k out the door.

The only negative: the position of the emergency brake. It rests rear the area of your left foot and is easily hit and slightly engaged by my foot sometimes. And being there is a bit of a pain to reach.
