Gluten-Free Pumpkin Dog Cookies

Dig out your favorite cookie cutters for these fun cut-out dog treats that are perfect for any season. They also contain pumpkin puree and flax seeds, both of which have fantastic health benefits for your dog!

Water, flax seed, brown rice flower, eggs, and pumpkin

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups brown rice flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons ground flax seeds
  • 3/4 cup canned pumpkin puree (be sure that it has no additives)
  • 1/4 cup cold water (or enough needed to make the dough stick)

Directions

Dough cut into cookies, with cookie cutter and rolling pin
  1. Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
  2. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper (these cookies can be a bit sticky).
  3. Combine the dry ingredients, brown rice flour and flax meal, in a large bowl.
  4. Mix the eggs and pumpkin together in a smaller bowl until smooth and well incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the pumpkin mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring thoroughly to combine after each addition. Add water slowly, as needed.
  6. Use your hands to knead the mixture together.
  7. Dust your counter and rolling pin with brown rice flour. Roll the dough out to the desired thickness of the cookies (about 1/4″ thick).
  8. Cut cookies using a knife or cookie cutter.
  9. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheets.
  10. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes, or until the tops of the cookies have dried out completely.
  11. Cool the cookies on wire racks, then store them in an airtight container.
