2023 New Year’s Resolutions from The Cheshire Horse Team

An open notebook with 2023 goals letters text

The New Year is a great time to reflect on past accomplishments and set goals for the upcoming season. We sat down with a few members of The Cheshire Horse staff to learn more about their future aspirations and what they would like to accomplish in 2023.

Since bringing my horses home a few years ago, I have had so much more work to do that I haven’t been able to really enjoy owning horses. My resolution is to make time to work with my horses again, spend more time with them, and truly enjoy owning horses again. In order to achieve this, I spent this past fall reorganizing my barn to streamline my chores while organizing my tools—all helping to make my barn a sanctuary for myself. I want to remember to enjoy the journey again!

My fiancé and I are getting married and building a house in 2023. With that, my goal is to slow down a little bit and enjoy the process as much as possible since it will all go by so quickly. I am genuinely looking forward to all of it!

—Kate B, Saddle Sales & Sales Associate

I’d like to take a day trip or spend a weekend near my grandfather’s favorite fishing spot on the Androscoggin river. I haven’t been able to ride horses much in 2022, so I would like to take lessons or ride more consistently in 2023. If I can swing it, I would like to go to the National Finals Rodeo!

—Jennifer V, Senior Sales Associate/Purchasing Assistant

My goal for 2023 is to fight in my first boxing sparring match. I recently started taking boxing classes and love the sense of empowerment I feel while boxing. I would like to become skilled enough in 2023 to take on an opponent in the ring.

Next year, I have a few goals! I would like to spend more quality time with my family and friends, while also dedicating a bit more time to my gardening. Additionally, I would like to try to travel more and see new places.

—Judy G, Senior Sales Associate

For the past few years, I haven’t made New Year’s Resolutions, but this year is different: I plan to use my rowing machine daily and wake up earlier to get my day started off right.

—Chrystin S, Shipping Associate

My New Year’s Resolution is to have a happy, healthy year. My goal is to work on my house, (painting and redesigning some of it) and get prepared to build a garage in 2024!

Next year, I am hoping to build a solid foundation with my coming two-year-old gelding. I am planning on lots of groundwork as well as exposing him to a number of different situations so that he will be ready to slowly start in the spring of this three-year-old year.
